Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Conduct
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is carried out in special chambers (hyperbaric oxygen chambers), in which the pressure is increased – to values higher than atmospheric pressure – using compressed air of breathing air quality, while oxygen is supplied to patients through a special mask that covers nose and mouth.
Hyperbaric oxygen treatment chambers are divided into two (2) main categories::
ð Single-person chambers → treatment is given to a single patient (type of chambers mainly used at the USA)
ð Multi-person chambers → treatment is given to more than one patient at the same time (type of chambers mainly used in Europe and other countries)
Whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy is delivered in a single-person or multi-person chamber the benefits are exactly the same.
In Greece, the existing chambers in health services provision facilities are multi-person chambers.

Information about the hyperbaric oxygen chamber of O2 YGEIA - EVEXIA
Our center has technicaly perfect, modern and absolutely
reliable high-tech equipment from the German factory
HAUX-LIFE-SUPPORT GmbH.
The chamber we use for the treatments of our patients is a 12-seat HAUX-STARMED 2200/5.5 type and operates under the constant supervision of fully qualified and highly trained medical / paramedical staff.
Internally, the chamber is equipped with:
a) seats («airline type»), which have ergonomically shaped high back rests and folding arm rests (2 rests per seat),
b) air conditioning system (cooling – heating) and
c) patient entertainment system (cd player/radio)
The chamber is pressurized with air (of breathing air quality) and the patient breathes pure medical oxygen from the built-in breathing system through a mouth/nose mask, in a safe and relaxing environment.
Required treatments - Duration - Frequency
The number of required treatments is determined by
the relevant specialized medical staff based on the
particular characteristics of each patient in combination
with the nosology to be treated.
The treatment lasts about 1.5 hours.
Hyperbaric oxygen acts cumulatively and for this reason
treatments are carried out on a daily basis (working
days) to ensure the healing process.
